DAY 4 — JOSHUA TREES AT SUNSET

Joshua Trees at sunset

Next day I left the Hole in the Wall area and drove straight to the field of Joshua Trees that I had seen upon arriving at the park. There’s a saying that there are more Joshua Trees in Mojave National Preserve than in Joshua Tree National Park. I don’t know if that is true, but this particular location where I decided to explore seemingly looked quite fitting.

I explored the area and scouted what to photograph. And then returned to my car and patiently waited while reading a book.

Then, the sun was dropped near the horizon, and it was time. I grabbed my gear and headed back out.

All I had to do was just time it right to catch the sun peeking through the arms.

Did you know that Joshua Trees are actually Yuccas, meaning they are not trees but plants. And the Mormon settlers named them after the Old Testament prophet Joshua.
