Many times I admire those who have this extreme level of focus on what they are doing. And most of them say, as you know, that they didn’t have a plan b. I think that it is why they have this mentality that it (whatever it is) has to work. But, if you think about the fact that it is what they are passionate about — being creative, starting a business, or even helping others — that’s all they have in mind, 24/7, 365 days. One of many positive qualities that I take away from my boss is just that. Extremely focused. Only thinking about it, nothing else. It’s not so much that she has burnt bridges or closed all the doors to other opportunities but that it (whatever it is) is the only thing that matters to her. And that’s what I am constantly reminding myself of. Nothing else means much to her. And persistence happens to be one of the words to describe the journey. Nothing else. Because it is not that she is not persistent but that she only thinks about making it happen, no matter how long it takes. It has nothing to do with the notion that persistence pays off in the end. Persistence can be talked about it only when it’s over because that’s where the result that she is trying to achieve lies.
