JMT DAY 25 — KEARSARGE LAKES BEFORE SUNRISE
Kearsarge Lakes before sunrise
It was pretty dark when I grabbed my gear and started walking towards the lake. But soon it would brighten up and I had to find a spot to plant my tripods before it was too late.
Because I wanted to capture the sunrise in both directions, one facing Kearsarge Pinnacles and the reflection of them in the water and the other Kearsarge Pass and reflection of it, I found a spot where the lake was seen in both directions.
One of my favorite times of the day is right before sunrise when it’s so still. And it is when the colors are slowly seeping through the cloud filled sky. Of course, it isn’t that common to see clouds lingering in the sky in the Sierra Nevada in summer like that, but it is beautiful when it does.
And I knew I was about to have it.
