BEAR CANYON TRAIL SWITCHBACKS

For weeks I had been looking forward to snowshoeing and taking winter photos, so when I started hiking Bear Canyon Trail, I was quite thrilled. My goal was to capture the winter beauty of the San Gabriel Mountains, on my way up to or down from the snow-clad Mt. Baldy. It was 2 days after the second rain this winter here in SoCal, and the amount of snow in the mountains turned out to be beyond what I was expecting. At least up to the end of switchbacks the trail was relatively well packed down by the hikers who must’ve hiked the previous days, so it wasn’t bad. However, my overall pace suffered from the camera gear weight I was carrying along with the left lower calf injury I was still recovering from.
