While meadows still remained in crisp and chilly morning air
SUNRISE AT LEMBERT DOME
We got up early to catch the sunrise at the top of Lembert Dome. The dome was super close to Tuolumne Meadows Campground, where we were camping at. We had taken a short exploratory hike to the bottom of the dome the day before, and we decided to turn it into an unexpected but exciting sunrise hike. It was still pitch black dark when we started out. Although it was a short hike to the top, it involved a bit of going up and down this massive granite rock dome. It was quite windy when we reached the top. We hunkered down below a ledge till the sun lingered just below the mountain skyscraper in the east. The peaks and the sky in the southwest started glowing in orange and red hues. While the meadows still remained in the crisp and chilly morning air, Cockscomb, Cathedral Peak, Mt. Hoffmann and Tuolumne Peak (from left to right) were waking up fast. Another gorgeous day was unfolding under a bright sky accompanied by not a single cloud. And our plan for the day was to hike to Cathedral Peak Lakes for sunset later.
